Hannah Smith, Owner and Event Planner:
I was born in Steamboat Springs Colorado, where many of my family members still live. I was raised in Boulder, Colorado.
How long have you been in the wedding and events industry?
The past 15+ years I have been working in events or weddings in some form. 6 years ago I opened Hannah Smith Events and within the 1 year had to bring on more planners due to the overwhelming response.
What is your favorite part of event planning?
The entire creative process of creating a unique event from the roots up and then witnessing it all come together is so fulfilling. Stylizing the event for the client by coming up with a vision in my head and then making it a reality. Then seeing that the client is genuinely happy with the outcome is very rewarding.
When you are not coordinating events and weddings, what do you enjoy doing?
I spend much of my spare time with my husband and two girls. We love going to the beach and exploring southern California. My guilty pleasure is watching cooking shows with a glass of wine. I have a love for architecture, interior design, San Diego history and art so you can often find me at Balboa Park or the Cedros Design District.
Where is your favorite place to vacation?
I love to travel to places that I have never been and as a young adult lived in many different cities. So I have a hard time picking a favorite. I enjoy the energy, variety and architecture in big cities such as London and New York but I adore the beaches and warm water in the Bahamas.
What are your favorite restaurants in San Diego?
Davanti Enoteca in Del Mar for brunch (the corned beef hash and bloody mary bar are both amazing). Ironside for drinks and oysters. Brockton Villa for lunch and views of La Jolla. I also love a simple street taco from Primo’s.
How do you want to be remembered?
Genuine, caring, creative and someone who made a difference.
